Coastal monitoring & shoreline erosion
A shoreline retreats or advances by a few metres a year: invisible to the eye, obvious as soon as two dated surveys are overlaid. The drone turns that change into measurements.
Measuring what moves slowly
Coastal erosion is a slow, costly threat: shoreline retreat, lost beaches, undermined structures, flooding. Over a season the eye sees nothing; on two centimetre-dated surveys, everything reads. The drone measures the exact shoreline position, the sand volume gained or lost, the advance of a collapsing cliff. Repeated, it yields a change curve — the objective basis of a coastal scheme or management plan.
The CARIGE method
Photogrammetric flight of the shoreline at comparable tide and conditions from one survey to the next, RTK targets to set every campaign in the same reference frame.
Shoreline extraction by automated water/sand edge detection, retreat and advance computation, sediment volume balances between two dates.
Shoreline change maps, beach profiles, gained/lost volumes, dated overlayable orthophotos — deliverables for authorities, consultancies and coastal managers.
Where we work
French West Indies, French Guiana and the whole Caribbean — among the most exposed coastlines in the world. References: coral reef and beach monitoring in Martinique, mangrove mapping. Local presence, ready to deploy
Based locally in the French West Indies, we deploy fast: urgent requests by WhatsApp at +596 696 19 95 82, reply within two hours, quote the same day. We can charter a private aircraft to almost any destination in the region and mobilise nearly the same day. Coverage of up to 1,000 hectares per day (two Matrice RTK drones).
Our automated-detection models — corrosion, deformation, damage, vegetation — are developed in the region, from our own field missions.
